A weekend in Whitby

Whitby is a small harbour town on the Yorkshire coast. I've been once, for an afternoon, and it wasn't nearly long enough.

What interests me

The town sits on both sides of a river, with old streets running down to the harbour and the ruins of an abbey on the cliff above.

What I'd like to do

• Climb the 199 steps to the abbey.
• Walk along the beach to Sandsend.
• Eat fish and chips on the harbour wall.
